The Agadir of Amtoudi

“L‘architettura è troppo importante per essere lasciata agli architetti” - Giancarlo De Carlo

The Igudar, also called “agadir,” are old communal granaries built by the Amazigh people, dating back to at least the 13th century. These strong buildings were used to store valuable things like grain and oil and helped families work together and trust one another. Each family had its own space inside. The Igudar can be found in Morocco and other North African countries and show how Berber architecture fits into the Sahara landscape.
