Ciascuno di noi riceve specifici stimoli ed emozioni dall'ambiente in cui si muove: durante il workshop impareremo a riconoscere e a trasmettere queste impressioni su carta, attraverso differenti tecniche di disegno e di colorazione.

D’altra parte il disegno è un mezzo di espressione primaria molto più antico della parola.

Fabio Barilari

Architetto, pittore e illustratore, insegna progettazione architettonica e disegno a Roma. Nel suo curriculum vanta collaborazioni con La Sapienza e le università americane Arcadia University, California Polytechnic, Cornell University e Iowa State University. Ha collaborato con numerosi studi di architettura e dal 2016 illustra le principali città tedesche per il Goethe-Institut. Nel 2018 ha ricevuto una menzione speciale a Lucca Comix dalla Bao Pubblishing.

World Refugee Day 2019

I am particularly pleased with this collaboration developed with UNIMED - Mediterranean Universities Union on this theme, on which I have been working for a long time time, on several fronts.

The illustration was presented today, for the World Refugee Day 2019.
I do hope we can go on like this and obtain the results needed.

"Il prossimo Venerdì 17 Maggio 2019, presso il Teatro San Genesio di Roma, nell’ambito degli eventi organizzati dal Vitala Festival curato da Fabiana De Rose, a favore della musica e dell’arte, verrà inaugurata la nuova mostra personale di pittura di Fabio Barilari, Time Off.

In questa ottava mostra personale a Roma, Barilari presenta numerosi lavori nuovi che proseguono e sviluppano ulteriormente il suo interesse per il racconto di luoghi ed atmosfere, alternando differenti tecniche di disegno e narrazione. In particolare per questa esposizione, la sua attenzione è dedicata agli spazi emozionali, mentali e fisici del tempo libero – del Time Off.

Istanti che raccolgono e raccontano sensazioni e luoghi: "Time Off" è il tempo del disegno e della pittura.

La produzione di Barilari alterna da sempre forme libere e astratte a immagini di paesaggi principalmente urbani, ma anche una ricca produzione di illustrazioni e ritratti. Sono istantanee impressioni di vita reale e di luoghi che cercano di mostrare la loro anima intangibile, la memoria che custodiscono, il loro senso."

Una mostra dedicata a raccontare alcune delle storie raccolte nel campo profughi di Za’atari, con il fine di documentarle, di sensibilizzare e diffondere conoscenza su questa realtà.

Il campo di Za’atari in Giordania, vicino al confine con la Siria, ha aperto nell’Agosto del 2012 ed ha accolto, ad oggi, fino a 156,000 rifugiati, arrivando ad essere, di fatto, la 4° città più grande della Giordania. 

Attualmente conta 80,000 persone di cui oltre la metà sono minorenni. 

La mostra, in parte presenta una selezione di fotografie della fotografa documentarista Agnes Montanari e dei suoi studenti di Za’atari, ovvero i giovani e aspiranti fotografi, ragazzi e ragazze che ha conosciuto e che hanno seguito le sue lezioni. 

In altra parte, presenta le illustrazioni di Fabio Barilari, che collabora da tempo con Agnes sul progetto congiunto di documentare le storie di questi ragazzi rifugiati, attraverso la combinazione di illustrazioni e fotografie.

"I had arrived in Jordan in August 2012, at the same time the Za’atari camp opened. After spending a few months getting to know the country and people, I contacted Save the Children in Jordan to propose teaching photography in the camp. The project was accepted.

It is important for me, as I think of photography as not only a means of communication but also as a way to restore the confidence that children have in themselves. It gives them a chance to move beyond the idea that they’re victims.

From a therapeutic point of view, photography allows them to replace images of trauma with other positive images they create themselves (we all remember things, events visually, in our mind). It is also easier to express yourself if you do not have to use words, which can be far more difficult than taking a photograph."
